Robin Hood - dir. Ridley Scott (2010)
Whilst watching this revisionist take on the Robin Hood legend I had to keep reminding myself that it was directed by the man who gave us Alien, Blade Runner and Gladiator.
It’s such a turgid, sluggish, and downright dull retelling of the Robin Hood legend that there were moments that I wishing Kevin Costner would pop up to point the not-so-merry men the way to ‘Nodding-Ham’.
Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett’s accents are all over the place, they have zero chemistry together, the action is confusingly presented, the plotting is muddled, and any attempts at comedy are incredibly fraught.
For some inexplicable reason William Hurt’s superfluous character Lord Whatisname has been made to look like the spit of Ridley Scott.
