Michael Palin meets John Hughes
Saturday, July 16th 1988: Los Angeles
To Breakfast with Tom Jacobson and John Hughes to talk over the ‘Larry Meister’ project. I like them. Jacobson is quiet, trim-bearded and soft spoken. He’s from Kansas. Hughes is chubbier, pale-faced, bespectacled, like the clever boy in class. Articulate, humorous. They’re both younger than I expected. As so often happens, they both know my work more thoroughly than I know theirs.
They had sent me a script to consider called ‘Larry Meister Late For Life’. It was, as far as I know, never made.
